Dallas, Texas. By Luis Lara. Fundación Colombia invites you to the annual celebration of the Independence of Colombia in Dallas, which in 2022 turns 24 years of being celebrated, bringing joy to the community of North Texas with the “Integration Picnic”.

On this occasion, a flash tournament “Copa Independencia de Colombia” will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the facilities of the “Premier Park Soccer” sports complex of the “North Texas Premier Soccer Association” soccer league located in the 11115 Elam Rd, Balch Springs, TX 75180. Activities will begin at 12 noon and end at 9:00 p.m.

A match will be held between former professional soccer players who live in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, the state of Texas, and a team over 40 years old, among which the former members of the Colombian National Team stand out: Milton Rodríguez (Cortulua, Pereira , Deportivo Cali, Santa Fe, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors – South Korea-Millionaires, Newcastle Jets, Australia, América de Cali, Deportes Tolima, Real Cartagena, FC Dallas, Atlético Huila, Envigado F. C., Cúcuta Deportivo and Colombia National Team), Osman López (Colombian National Team, Millonarios, Olimpia from Paraguay, Trujillano from Venezuela) and Jair Benítez (Deportivo Cali, Envigado Santa Fe, Colon from Santa Fe from Argentina, Independiente Medellín, FC Dallas and Atlético FC), Mauricio Guevara (Toros de Texas, Millonarios , Tampa Mutuny MLS, In El Paso with the Patriots, Jackson and in Paraguay with Cerro Porteño Paraguay and Nacional from Paraguay) Willy Molano (Dallas Sidekicks), David Ortiz (FC Dallas, Dallas Sidekicks), Chepe Pérez (San ta fe), Janio Cabezas (Sports Tolima, Santa Fe, Deportivo Cali, Bucaramanga and Colombia National Team), Oscar Muñoz (Cali and Cristal Caldas). Among the former professional soccer players will be Ricardinho Cavalcante (Brazil Indoor Soccer Team and Milwaukee), Rey López, (Club Deportivo Bolívar de la Paz, Club Magisterio de Sucre of the Bolivian Professional League and former Bolivian Under-19 National Team), José Bautista made his debut with Deportivo Cali in 1998 when José Eugenio El Cheche Hernández was coach.

The match will be directed by the North Texas referee Víctor Quezada.

A second match will be played between children under 14 years of age, a third women’s game between Colombian women and women of other nationalities (open category) and a fourth match between young people over 18 years of age (open category). There will be a trophy for the winning team of each of these commitments.

From the beginning and for 24 years, the event was held under the direction of Lalo (Gerardo López), Roberto Bolaño and Luis Lara; initially it was done in the parks of the city of Dallas, Farmers Branch, Carrollton, then for 7 years at “Samuell-Garland Park” and before the pandemic for two years at “Rancho La Hacienda”.

On this occasion, the “Colombian Independence” and “Integration Picnic” will be celebrating 24 years providing fun (Recreation) under the responsibility of the “Colombia Foundation” chaired by Luis Lara (Phone 972 900 5390), John Bedoya (Phone 972 815 7211) owner of the “Las Palmas Restaurant” in the city of Addison, Texas. The event is also promoted by Lara Advertising.

The occasion will be used to have an integration picnic among all the communities of North Texas with a variety of typical food from Colombia and other nations.

Simultaneously, attendees will be enjoying the music of DJ Zamora and DJ Daniel Ontiveros. Several merchants from the region will be offering their food products and services, including an exhibition of handicrafts and typical Colombian items.

During the celebration there will be a presentation by Bolañitos, Professional Singer of the Vallenato genre courtesy of Pastor Marco Rico of the International Bethel Family Church of the city of Dallas. Then, the presentation of the Dallas Salsa Group of Luis Delgadillo and the presentation of the Typical Dance Colombian “Oswaldo and his Gozadera”.

At the end of the day from 5 p.m. and until 9:00 pm, the “Vallenato Power” will be presented with the debut of Vallenato singer Chendry Daniel; then will come the Salsa musical group called: “Latin Fusion” and the stellar presentation of the guest of honor “Jaziel Ruiz” winner of the “Caribe Fest” and Semi Finalist of the “Voz Kids”.

REPATRIEMOS COLOMBIA

There will be a special tent to receive donations in order to “Repatriate” bodies of deceased Colombian compatriots in the United States” by Maydee Hickman, who has been helping the community of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area for more than 14 years, from any city at the state and federal level. All the services that she offers are totally free. She has repatriated many bodies to Colombia for families in need.
